New Burkeville Students Must Register
Students new to the Burkeville Independent School District are required to register prior to August 25, the first day of school. Please see the registrars at each campus for registration packets. Office hours are 8 a.m.-2:30 p.m. Monday through Thursday until school begins.

Agape Christian Academy Enrolling
Agape Christian Academy, a private Christian school for grades Kindergarten-12, is enrolling students for the upcoming school year. Class will begin September 2. For more information, please contact Vicki Fillyaw at 409-381-0840.

Miller Account Set at Community Bank
A benefit account has been set up at Community Bank of Texas for Robert "Pete" Miller of Burkeville. Pete has been battling cancer for several years. Any donation will be greatly appreciated. NMS Registration Begins
Newton Middle School is now registering students that are new to the district. Parents will need to bring the following items: birth certificate, social security card, immunization record, report card, TAKS scores, and proof of residency. Registration will end on August 22. Call the campus at 379-8324 for more information.

Burkeville ISD Plans Open House
Burkeville ISD has planned a Parent Open House for August 21 from 1 p.m. until 5 p.m. as part of the teacher and staff in-service for the school year 2008-2009. All teachers and staff will attend training from 10 a.m. until noon that day and then welcome parents to visit with them in their respective classrooms. Parents can expect to receive class information which includes teacher expectations, course information, class rules, and supply lists. "Meet the Teacher" Open House at NES
August 21 from 3:30-5:30 p.m. will be "Meet the Teacher" Open House at Newton Elementary School. Parents can come by leave school supplies during this special time.

Youth Board Meeting August 25
The Youth Board meeting will be held on August 25 at 5:30 p.m. in the Howard Civic Center. Anyone interested in the Youth of Newton County is invited to attend.

Food Share Annual Meeting August 25
Newton County Food Share will hold the Annual Meeting on Monday, August 25 at 10 a.m. in the Methodist Fellowship Hall.

Eagles Reserve Tickets to go on Sale
Reserve seating tickets for the 2008-2009 Newton Eagles football season will cost $24. Persons having reserve seats will have the opportunity to purchase their same seats from August 1-15. All seats not purchased will be sold on a "first come" basis August 18-August 22 at the Newton IDS Administration Building from 1 a.m.-3:30 p.m. Gate passes are available for senior citizens 65 & over and for clergymen and wives at no extra charge. General admission for home football games will be handled through the ticket booth at a cost of $5.

NHS Flying Start August 21
Newton High School will hold its annual Flying Start on August 21 from 4-6. Students can pick up their schedules, meet teachers, tour campus, rent lockers, and join clubs. There will be a community-wide pep rally at 6 p.m. in the gym to give everyone a chance to meet the Eagles!
