Obama Meets The Issac Family
The month of May came not only as a continued time of healing, but also to recognize National Police Week, May 12-18th.
On May 8th, the 12th Annual Louisiana Law Enforcement Officer Memorial Service was held at Lake Lawn Funeral Home in New Orleans. The Memorial Wall is located in front of Lake Lawn and holds the names of 425 Louisiana Law Enforcement Officials who died in the line of duty.
The legacy of Ricky Issac, Jr. will live on as hi sname was recently honored during this event. The Issac family, along with members of the Natchitoches Parish Sheriff’s Office joined in commemorating the sacrifice of the fallen and to show support for the officers.
We then prepared to travel to our nation’s capitol for National Police Week, May 12-18. A candlelight vigil was held on May 13th to honor the fallen officers. The highlight of the week was the National Memorial Peace Officer service. The keynote speaker was President Obama. The President visited with the 2012 survivors after the ceremony to offer support thanking them for their sacrifice and courage in losing their loved one in service to our country.
Shown in the picture above is Ricky Issac, Jr.’s widow, Akilah Issac, baby, Ricky, III, and mother, Aquanetta Issac.

Singh Honored At A&M
Dylan Singh, former NHS graduate, has gone on to great success at A&M University. He is an Engineering student and received a Distinguished Student Certificate for Fall 2012. This is reserved only for those students who achieve a GPS of 3.5 or better and is particularly noteworthy considering the rigorous and demanding nature of his engineering curriculum. Dylan is a “Navy Contract” but all cadets wear Army uniforms. He wears a submarine pin signifying his Navy affiliation.
Last summer Dylan was one of few selected to serve 50 day tours on the U.S. Navy Boomer Submarines. He also quite enjoyed that he was sent to Honolulu, Hawaii to meet up with his submarine. While there he visited one of his older brothers, Roman Singh, who is currently stationed in Hawaii while serving in the U.S. Navy.
Dylan has truly enjoyed his summer tours with the military and counted them as a wonderful learning experience. They helped him better decide his future. His oldest brother, Nathaniel Singh, who also graduated from NHS, is currently serving the U.S. Air Force as a Cryptologic Linguist. These young men have extremely proud parents and a community that truly appreciates their service to our country.
