2013 King Reunion Set For June 22
Descendants of John Wesley King will have their annual Family Reunion in Newton on Saturday, June 22, from 10 a.m. until 4 p.m. at the First Baptist Church Family Life Center. A business meeting for everyone will be at 11:30 a.m. and a covered dish lunch will be served after the meeting.
Auxiliary Sale June 27
Christus Jasper Memorial Hospital Auxiliary will have their annual Gift Shop Sale Thursday, June 27 from 9 to 3 p.m. in the South Wing Dining Room. Popcorn, baked goods, used jewelry, etc. will be on sale. The sale benefits the Children’s Miracle Network and Scholarship Fund.
Credit By Exam In Burkeville
Burkeville I.S.D. will have testing for credit by exam on July 9 at 8 a.m. Anyone who would like to test needs to notify the school at least three (3) days before the testing date.
Methodist Church Offers Summer Program
Starting on June 25, every Tuesday and Thursday, children ages 5 to 12 are invited to the Newton Methodist Church’s Summer Program from 12 to 3 p.m. Come enjoy games, snacks, and a short lesson.
Children’s Summer Reading Registration At The Library
It’s that time again to visit the Newton County Public Library and register your child to join in all the fun at the library this summer. For the summer reading program, “Dig Into Reading” we will have some new entertainment along with some old favorites. Registration is for ages 3-12. Each child will receive a book bag and reading log the day they register.
U.M. Army Is Coming To Newton
Armed with hammers and paint brushes, 51 workers with a mission will descend on the Newton, Texas area as part of U.M. Army (United Methodist Action Reach-out Mission by Youth) beginning Sunday, June 16. If you have a need for a wheelchair ramp, porch work, painting, roof patching, yard work, sheetrock repair, window/door repair, siding, or any other home repair (excluding plumbing or electrical work), call Shelly with Servant United Methodist Church at 409-379-3491. Free health screenings will be available for blood pressure checks, insulin levels etc. at the Praise Cafe the first Tuesday of every month from 6:30 to 7:30 p.m. The cafe is located in the Dollar General Store shopping center.
